We got February off to great start with the completion of this custom patio deck in Mount Dora, FL. These homeowners wanted a nice area to hang out and relax in the backyard and also be able to entertain guests.

The Build

We met with the client several times to ensure we had the exact design they were looking for and even made some changes along the way. All of the framing material is the ground contact pressure treated ensuring extended life of the framing and of course all galvanized hurricane straps on this custom patio deck.

We looked at a few different composite decking brands and ended with up the Trex Enhance in the Rocky Harbor color which was attached with the Trex hidden fasteners.

Some thing else we like to do to the framing before we cover it up with the Trex is to paint the framing black. The clip that attaches the decking to the joists covers almost all of the framing but you still see a little bare wood. We always like to paint it black so you never see that!

We also love the way the built in bench turned out. Also love the idea of having because you aren’t constantly having to move and store patio furniture when bad weather rolls in. It is completely wrapped in matching material and we can get about 6-7 people on either side of it making it perfect for a cook out.

This cut off corner was a feature added by the homeowner during the framing phase, and we love it! Little details like this are what adds character to a custom patio deck.
