Jones Homes – Mount Dora deck builder & contractor
We love a good challenge and this deck delivered just that! It was well worth it when we could step back and dream of the future get-togethers and family cookouts that will take place here. We were able to take the client’s dreams and make them a reality. From the design to the build, to the staining, along with our contractors, we saw this project through keeping quality the number one priority.
Deck Design
This custom deck build started as just an idea and sketch by the homeowner. Through planning, the deck evolved, staying close to the original inspiration. We went over the different options for layout and making the best use of the lumber, minimizing waste. One of our favorite parts about this deck is the octagon! Once we got the drawings approved through the city of Mount Dora, the fun commenced.
The Build
Just designing the layout for this Mount Dora deck build took over a day. Keeping everything square was more challenging than your average rectangular deck. Once we had everything laid out, and 74- 80lb bags of concrete later, we were able to start framing. Between that and the copious amounts of hurricane straps, and rest assured, this puppy isn’t going anywhere. The decking is a 5/4×6 select pressure-treated board from Yellawood. We opted for 3/4″ lattice, which is more expensive but much more sturdy and durable.
The Finishes
The stains you see here are a Sherwin Williams WoodScapes product chosen by the homeowner. This is a top-quality stain that will last many years with easy upkeep thanks to it’s transparency. These handrails are Redwood with metal balusters we ordered from Colorado. They add a high-end finished look.
This Mount Dora deck was one of our favorite projects (I know I say that every time). We would love to take on more deck builds like this so if you have an idea for your new grilling spot, lets talk!
Another happy homeowner! Thank you for giving us the opportunity to build your dream deck. We hope you and your family will enjoy it for years to come!
